Weekend Recap

Saturday was a wet one, but Take A Whiff was still in action. With an early wedding ceremony, I was off to deliver at about 10am to NH. The flowers were very simple as the bride had requested and to her credit, the happy colors ( yellow and orange) I am sure were a welcomed addition to the rainy raw day. Regardless, I have heard it was a wonderful time.

Few things learned through experience this weekend. Tulips... although beautiful, are not the best choice for boutonnieres. I had a feeling about this, but the bride requested them, so I delivered. I was afraid they would be too delicate and I should have sold her on something else. She was not a fan of roses, but instead should have gone with something like a calla lily which would have had a similar look. The reason - I caught a glimpse of a few pictures on facebook and sure enough, by the 1st dance the grooms boutonniere was toast. UGH! That killed me!

Secondly, this was my first time making pews bows for a wedding. While I have made a million bows before, and certainly have made pew bows in my training, I had to make ten... doesn't seem like a big deal. Well it is when you try to use inexpensive ribbon. What a pain in the neck. So I learned my lesson. The reason pew bows cost a lot to the bride is because they cost a lot to make. Ribbon is not cheap. In the end I wound up using the better ribbon and taking a hit on my profits. Also, I now know that I need to bring multiple attachment options for the bows at the church! You never know what type of pew there will be. I got lucky!

That's all for now.

Congrats Jane & Steve. Best Wishes! Here are few pics.
